does anyone have a basic idea of how to use one of these
tried using one today but it was not detecting any inputs anybody know why this might be

My best suggestion is for you to call Roland. They would know more about their own product than anybody here unless there is a Roland rep among us. I hear that the 2400 is pretty confusing so I would just call'em up.

Did you rout the input to the correct channel and arm the channel ?

I have recorded on a VS-2000. I expect they're somewhat similar. If the channel buttons light up make sure they are red when recording. Also look if the mics you are using need Phantom power. I did that one a lot. check your gains.

erm i dont know, we only had time to try to use it briefly bofore changing to a minidisc recorder because we were running out of time but the final quality was very poor on that so its going to be another 2 week before we have another chance to use it ill try and get something more accurate on what was happening

There is probably an FAQ at VSplanet that you could print off and take with you or even better a quick start guide on the Rolland site. I think the studios in a box are great, once you get up that first bit of the learning curve !

Try to right click on it and go to save target as and download it.

i have done that, its a adobe acrobat file n when i try and open it in the accrobat reader it says 'There was an error opening this document. Could not repair file'
