Im planning on upgrading my Epi LP with a 490r and 498T. My question is where is the best place to purchase these pickups from and also whats the difference between the 490r and 490t.

I'd get them at the place that is the cheapest to buy and install them (unlss of course u can do it yourself). A 480r must be rhythm position and 498t is treble position.

no, the 490r is a neck pickup, the 498t and 490t are bridge pickups. my gibson came stock with a 490r and 490t. the 490r is a sweet pickup! very good sound, the 490t is waaaayyyy too bassy to make anything sound good. so I play on my neck pickup 95% of the time, even for rythm. the 498t is supposed to have a higher output. I would sooner go with that one for the bridge then a 490t.

Hate to say it, but Guitar Center or one of the other mega box stores do it the cheapest. Sometimes you can find better deals on-line. Do a little searching and compare the prices.
