Problem with strap....

I have a mexican used strat(its barely used but anyway...) it looks like this...http://home.arcor.de/leutershausen/z/strat.jpg (http://home.arcor.de/leutershausen/z/strat.jpg ) , and im having a little problem with my strap. When i play it sometimes falls off, but thats not all that fall off. At the tip of the body, left side on top, were the strap is held in place, that screw keeps the strap in place keeps falling out. I've tried replacing the screw with a longer one but still it falls out. Please help me!!!

You can solve both problems with one thing. Strap Locks. The screw is longer than stock, but if your still having trouble with it falling out then you can insert a sliver of wood with the screw so the screw has something to bite into. OR you could try putting some super glue on the screw, but I'm not sure how well that would work.

this happened to me on my ibanez, I think what I did was got a wider, longer screw, it didn't fit through the strap button, so I drilled through the strap button to make the scre fit, then I put the screw in nice and tight, hasn't moved since...

alternately, I'd try putting a little bit of wood in there with some wood glue, then redrill a hole and screw into that,

surely a single toothpick is not big enough to fill the hole left by the strap lock, not even a rounded one (which is what I was refering to before anyway)

The idea is not to fill the hole completely, just reduce it enough to give the screw a better grip. :rolleyes:

now that's funny...
you don't need to fill the entire hole, just make it SMALLER so that the threads of the screw have some material to bite into. Trust me, this is a comman solution I have performed dozens and dozens of times.

but anyways, I'm gonna go see if we have some super glue and/or wood glue and some toothpicks and go fix my ibanez...

I would definately use some cyanoacrylate (superglue) rather than alphatic resin(wood glue) as the wood glue just plain takes to long to dry for this paticular repair. It would be faster to go to the store and get some superglue and do the repair than waiting for the wood glue to dry. The superglue will bond almost insantly.
