ok im skrewing around with audicity or how ever its spelt and when u go to file it says export to mp3 but it wont let me so how do i export it to mp3 or is there any other free recording software that is better ?

Chances are you have to pay for an encoder.
If you can export to WAV, then just grab CDEX and let it convert it from WAV to MP3 for you.
It's possible that you have to select exactly what you want to export to mp3...

Im not sure, but i think the audacity site has an mp3 encding program for free.

I also use audacity, and I also can't export to mp3, I think there might have been a charge in order to use that feature. what I do is export to .wav then convert it to mp3 using a free downloadable converter. I cannot remember what the name of mine was, nor can I find it on my computer, if I find it I'll let you know what it was called.
in the meantime you can download a free trial of dBpoweramp which will convert the file for you

down load encdll from lame.com install it and your audacity will work.
