Im just a kid in high school, which is not exactly the breeding ground for ''new music''. My brother goes to college, which is a great place to find great music. He showed me John Mayer before he got really big. Now, i dont like him because hes so big now and comin out with a song a minute for 13 year olds. My brother showed me Maroon 5 before they got big. Now, there wicked popular. Its kind of funny that theyre big a few months after we listen to them. A little while a go, he turned me on to this band thats been around since 93 called sister hazel. This band is better than Mayer and Maroon 5 but its not really big. Im kind of happy that not everyone listens but a little disappointed at the same tiime. I dont kno

Just listen to a lot of 80's 70's or even 60's bands, there you can find most of the best artists you can rarely find in the 90's. :)

i got lost after like the first 10 lines, but did you put the Beatles in there?because if you didn't...well...and if your going to add like Greenday(not critisizing them, i like them) then you've got to add Blink-182 to the list. I mean, in the late 90s early 2000s they were some of the best. They had a few number 1s, and were very popular. i love em:)

i'm going to break from the dumbassery and again reiterate Failure.

Failure was a really awesome band who unfortunately never quite got their dues with the masses. I'd suggest checking out their second CD, Magnified; they got steadily less hard per CD; the first one (Comfort) being produced in 1992 by Steve Albini, has a pretty hard sound too it; awesome CD, with more profound lyrics than most of the other CD's released around that period of time. Sadly it was released almost concurrently with Nevermind, which steamrolled everything else...

Magnified was made in '94 amidst a haze of narcotics abuse and produced by the band. While there are some songs that exhibit full-on Marshall Plexi distortion and distorted, heavy bass (Wet Gravity, Let It Drip) you also have moments of very pretty fingerpicking arrangements (Bernie) and perfectly executed lyrics and melodies (Undone). My all-time favorite album. They opened for Tool's European tour with this CD.

Their last, and most staggering, work was Fantastic Planet, 17 tracks of pure alt-rock bliss. It also has three segues which tangibly separate the CD. The last third of the CD is my favorite; check out the songs The Nurse Who Loved me (butchered, er, covered by A Perfect Circle), Another Space Song (one of the greatest god-damn-it-I'm-alone songs ever) and Stuck On You (it will get stuck on you.)

Sadly, after this, the band broke up, thanks to, as many bands have ended, differences in opinion accentuated by heavy drug abuse. Sigh. So it goes.

so yes, check them out.
