well this my first and only attempt at lyrics so yea, whatever:

Everyday I put on this mask

Not bad, not bad at all. It's difficult to know if it's gonna be too cheesy just by reading the lyrics, with the right rythm and melody it could definitely be a good song. ;)

Scarface is right. It's hard to tell. But I'm seeing an alternative rock/ emo song in this. It can work. Just try it. It's good you took the effort even though you had no idea, you can always revise a piece until it doesn't even remotely resemble the original, but you can never revise it if you haven't written ANYTHING.

Try using a different word for mask if it doesn't mess up the flow such as cover, disguise, etc. Repetition is murder for songwriters. I keep a thesaurus handy when I write. I like to think the great ones do the same. So
