Me and two mates just made the trip up to Sydney to see the Children of Bodom concert (the Melbourne gig was over 18's only   ). It was their first gig in Australia, and also the first gig of the "Are You Dead Yet?" (great album BTW) tour.

The concert kicked some MAJOR ASS... Alexi's guitar work was absolutely incredible, and so was Janne's keyboardery. Alexi's vocals were true to the recording, and have gotten a lot clearer recently.

They were accompanied by a local Aussie band, Pathogen, who were actually very good. They were kind of like Pantera meets Opeth meets Metallica. We met them outside after the gig, but unfortunately we missed COB, who had just left beforehand.

The downside to the night, however... my mates were attacked and robbed by a bunch of street rats while waiting for a taxi afterwards.
We all agree that it was ****ing worth it. It was great to see one of our biggest influences in action.

sweeeeet. By "vocals" you do mean "yelling" right?

Dude, did they play "Oops I did it again?"

That album is tits, man, I definitely agree.

They never covered The Trooper. Somebody put Bodom as the band name on some peer to peer file sharing program.

The cover you have heard is most likely Sentenced or Norther.

Bodom did cover Aces High though, that is an awesome cover!

That is a tribute album to Maiden, there is no denying Alexi's voice on that sound clip.

I garantee that his "ummm...no" has everything to do with Alexi's voice and nothing to do with whether CoB covered Aces High or not.

Mine would be because Primus, Johnny Cash and The Mad Caddies totally dominate the "badass cover song" market, however CoB are close contenders.

I think Jolly meant that it's not an amazing cover. The instrumental work is good, but every maiden cover needs Bruce vocals... there's no way Alexi can pull those off.

I can't remember the order the songs went in... but IIRC, the setlist was in no particular order:
-Hate Me
-Silent Night, Bodom Night
-Needled 24/7
-Bodom After Midnight
-Follow the Reaper
-Everytime I Die
-Hate Crew Deathroll
-Sixpounder
-Are You Dead Yet?
-Downfall
-Deadnight Warrior
-Chokehold
-Bodom Beach Terror
-Angels Don't Kill
-Living Dead Beat

As I was indicating, there certainly is no denying the presence of Alexi's voice.
