Since that thread with the whole Ozzfest thing, i've been getting into Iron Maiden, but I don't actually own any of their albums, so...
Which 5 Iron Maiden albums are definite must haves?

Ok, 3 albums no Iron Maiden fan should be without are:
Powerslave
Piece of Mind
Number of the Beast
As far as the other two go...my personal preference leans towards:
Somewhere in Time
Fear of the Dark
However these are also great:
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
No Prayer for the Dying
Virtual XI (grows on you...I don't like the vocalist, Blaze Bayley for this album)
Killers
Iron Maiden
The X Factor
Dance of Death (the most recent installation with a few good tracks)
The only one I completely dislike is "Brave New World." Bores me to tears.
Oh, and try to get Fear of the Dark (the song) live. It is phenomenal.

Powerslave is definately one of my favorite Maiden albums. Also seventh son of a seventh son and number of the beast

Number of the Beast is considered their best album and is also considered one of the best metal albums of all time. So you might want to consider making it your priority CD
I hope that helps a bit

I agree with Jolly's choices, but I would add "Killers" as a must have as well.
I've seen those guys seven times but all before '85, great band!!!

"Brave New World" has got "The Wicker Man", "Blood Brothers", and "Out of the Silent Planet". Those are all good songs IMO.

If I was to choose a song that would make me feel like I needed to pound a nail through my johnson, it definitely wouldnt be any of maiden's.

I saw them play in Dublin the other night, great gig. The best live tracks were Phantom Of The Opera, Number Of The Beast and Hallowed be Thy Name. They've got three lead guitarists now! Insane but a little muddled live at times.
Best albums IMHO:
Powerslave
7th Son of a 7th Son
Piece Of Minds
Iron Maiden
Killers
Live After Death (better versions of Aces High and Run To The Hill - no OTT operatic harmonies)
Great band. Try bearshare.com ... you can get all of their albums for free!

If we all did that they'd be out of business.

Besides, lots of money goes to the record companies, and the record companies can go die in my opinon. And I htink Iron Maiden has made enough to stop working and live off what they made until they die. So looseing a few hundred dollars isnt going to hurt.

Listening to the Rock in Rio version of Hallowed Be Thy Name right now -- I thought it worth mentioning as long as I'm already in this thread.
I just got Number of the Beast and Edward the Great (best of, I think) yesterday. I have come to the conclusion that Iron Maiden is awesome.
Must get Powerslave ASAP.

Edward the Great (best of, I think) yesterday.
One of the many. I wouldn't bother with their "Best Of"s, because they have no bad songs.

I've been learning how to play The Trooper. My Hammerons and pulloffs have improved tremendously thanks to that song.

The bass part to that song doesn't sound like much, but the right hand endurance you need to pull it off is insane.
The only thing that I've played that comes close is "The Toys Go Winding Down" by Primus.
