Stevie Ray Vaughn or James Marshall Hendrix...
Personally I vote SRV as the best guitarist of all time, and of course he did follow Hendrix's style...but who wouldn't. Before SRV no one was even close to him, except maybe Cobain haha ;) . Hendrix was innovative and had soul but SRV just had more soul and the same innovativenessss

First off, it does NOT have to be done.... and secondly... it's easier to do something after someone else has paved the road for you (Hendrix to Stevie). BUT the better guitarist was obviously Stevie... The more legendary... obviously Jimi. The more widely known... Jimi... Jimi is the Godfather and Stevie was just following the path that Jimi laid out for him. I like both of them.

It is defanately a sad thing that we had to loose 2 wonderful and invintive guitarist at such a young age. May they both rest in piece http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/traurig/sad-smiley-050.gif
I've gotta go with Jimi on this one.....no body could or ever will be able to improvise the way he did.

I choose not to vote. But if I had to I'd say Hendrix.

How many of these ***** vs Hendrix threads do I have to go through a night? This is getting stupid.
No Hendrix = No SRV, end of story, read the other threads if you want points.
SRV did indeed rock though. ;)

I tried bringing this up a long time ago, but just pissed on by the folks who think it important to compair so and so to so and so. I guess we just don't get it

Considering two of Jimi's strongest influences were two of SRV's as well (Buddy Guy and Albert King), I think that statement is a little strong.
No Jimi would certainly mean no SRV as we know him, but I find Albert King to have been a much stronger influence on Stevie's playing than Jimi was.
PS: I think I'm the only one here this forum who has to read all of these damn "VS" threads.
