if you want reviews... then here you go: http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data4/Epiphone/G_400-1.html
but, I can't really speak of this guitar from experience... I believe that my girlfriend's brother has this guitar (he has some kind of epiphone sg, I think it's a g-400) but, if you do end up getting it, let me know how it is, because it's one of the guitars I was considering getting.

i have an epi sg. it was okay as a first guitar, kind of... the overall quality was okay but, the neck joint is really soft and weak and cracks pretty easily. the plywood is also really soft and has godawful tonal characteristics.
not a bad starter guitar though...

are you talking about one of those cheap sg specials that cost $150? or ag-400 which costs $450? you would think that for $450 that you would get more then just a starter guitar

my mistake. i was thinking the g310, which also has a bolt neck, like the special (i just went back to the epiphone site for the first time in 2 or 3 years). yes, the g310 is really just a starter guitar, as is the Special... since they're really the same thing, the former just having more knobs.
g400's are okay (i know that i've played a few Epi SG's that were set neck, so, i'm sure that i've played the g400). for $150 or so bucks it's not a bad deal at all.

Mine's an SG-400 Korina, which is just a little lighter, and looks cool. The pickups are pretty good (better than Ibanez stock HB in this price range). I like the set neck...real sturdy. The tuners blew big chunks though! They had to go immediately, and ironically I replaced them with scrap epiphone acoustic tuners with much improvement.
