View Full Version : Wanted - suggestion for a few guitar picks design

Hi,
I have designed a few guitar picks for myself. However, I like everyone of them and could not choose which one to order (as an order comes in 144 pieces, I could afford only one design). Hope you can pick your choice and let me know which one looks the most appealing to you? Thank you very much.
These are the 2 questions I would really want to get answers:
1. Which design is the best? (1st choice, 2nd choice and 3rd-last-choice)
2. What background color goes with it? (I am thinking black, white or yellow) I am planning on mono colors only. Or I am open to other suggestions.
Something about myself - I am a gal. Like rock music. Am starting to learn guitar.
Thank you and have a nice day

I like 2 and 3. The kitty (I'm assuming that's a kitty - #2) looks like he's about to eat somebody, so he's chill, and that smiley guy (#3) is so trippy that he just may work.

You have a few good choices there. My favorites in order-
#1: 1
#2: 4
#3: 5
#4: 3
I think all of those would look good in yellow or blue/purple.

I like 2 and 3 best. Not sure about the color's though. Here's some examples.

I like 1 and 6. You should repost this thread as a poll to make it easier on yourself. And welcome to guitartricks!

7/8, 6, 4/5. I used "/" to show the ones I felt equally about.

1 or 4, you can't go wrong with flowers or swirlies.
Or you know, just don't bother because of that freaking monster that eats picks.
Welcome to guitar tricks.
Ah yes, T-Shirt... nice picks. I don't think they would work very well. Because I've use dimes and pennies when a pick wasn't avaible, and it sounds kind of... bleckh.

I had made the assumption that it was the band name... assuming that there was a band already assembled.

Yeah, I've used uncut coins and they do sound bad, but with the edges trimmed and polished they give a bell-tone quality. Good for harmonics too.

Where can you get something like that?

I can't think of anywhere they're sold. I've made my own with a wire cutter, a file, and sandpaper.
Here's an interesting little site on homemade guitar picks-

Yeah, I just made my own. Vice grips, bench grinder with brush wheel, bucket of water to cool the picks, and then honing stones for sharpening knives to polish. With quarters you can first trim to size with sheet metal cutters and then get the edges with grinder etc. About 5 minutes per pick and I got a pocket full. I've been using the Texas quarters and Tennessee also because I'm from Texas and the guitar and fiddle on the Tenn quarters. The other coins were tokens from a pizza place, I love the one "No cash value" pick. I've given several away and everyone that uses them loves them. Perfect size for pinch harmonics too.
My last pick (not pictured) is made from a 100 pesos Mexican coin. Very thick and heavy and really belltone sounding.

No offense, but I'll just stick with my straight from the guitar store stuff.

I've only tried a 5-peso piece. That worked pretty well.

Man, I hate that phrase "No offence, but...", it's just an insult waiting to happen.

I wonder what a pick cut from a CD would be like. It probably wouldn't work very well, but it would be kinda cool.
