I just picked up a New Fender Vibrolux amp, it has the most incredible clean sound. I have a Rocktron Austin Gold pedal for a nice boost, with slight overdrive, which works out well for a little bite, but......... I still need to get that heavy Carcass meets Zakk Wylde sound. This amp is all tube but no master volume. Can anyone recommend a good pedal that will make this amp scream when I need it too?
Thanks in advance,
Howard Kolb

Many people tend to like the Boss distortion pedals. I use an Ibanez Smash Box pedal and it's not too bad either.

Yea the Boss DS-1 is pretty good, or if yuo want it heavier, go for the boss mega distortion.

The Boss DS-1 sucks compared to the Keeley Modified DS-1 Ultra.

I've got a Boss MT-2 Metal Zone for sale that might get you where you're trying to go.

I agree with this guy. That pedal is awesome.
The only problem is the price.

buy one... seriously, you'll only find them on e-bay, as they have stopped making them... I just got one yesterday... and found a metal sound very quickly. pretty much just turn the distorion up fairly high (8/10 or 9/10), the bass (fat) up just past 3/4. and the mids (muscle) to somwhere between 1/4 and 1/2 and you get an amazing metal sound...

If you were looking for some Heavy Distortion, how come you got a Fender Amp. Most of em are made for clean, and blues. I know this is off topic, but if your looking for a good amp with a HUGE range of sound, try out Line 6 Spider II amps. They give out very clean and warm tones all the way to hardcore metal tones.

Digitech Hot Head is very versatile, I like it better than those other four models that came out with it, but if you have more than sixty dollars, get something nicer. Boss DS-1, maybe?

I got the Fender Amp, because now I play with my church band, doing alot of mellow stuff, maybe some bluesy rock stuff. But as far as the clean stuff, that amp sounds FANTASTIC. The pedal I went with was the Roctron Zombie, it has what almost seems to be a bias control on there, changing the type of distortion, I have that on full and the distortion turned down quite a bit and it has a great bite to it. And in case I get in the mood, if you turn the distortion up to half way, its Bolt Thrower meets Carcuss. Thanks for everyones input!!
