whenever i dont play guitar for one day i feel like i get that much worse like i get slower and even my calusses start to go away after a day. im trying to get as good as my other friend who has been playing 3 years with lessons but i think im getting on track. Does anyone else feel that if they dont play one day they get worse ?

well, I dont know about that, but it definately works the other way...if you do play everyday, you will get better!

Sometimes it's best to have a day or two off to let your hands have a rest. Aslong as it doesn't happen too often.
I rarely have a day off, but when I do, it usually helps. Sometimes it gets me out of a rut and when I pick it up again, I'm full of new ideas.
Technique-wise though, a day wouldn't do anything to me.
I don't practice on weekends any more, still play the odd gig and have studio sessions booked sometimes, but Saturday and Sunday are the days off from the practice schedule.
I think it's made me better. I used to find that if I practiced something for long enough I'd get better but eventually hit a peak and decline from there on. A day definitely won't make any difference... and callouses won't change in that time frame either...

I don't think a day or two here and there will make a difference at all. Sometimes you might come back with a new approach to the guitar and feel kind of invigorated with your playing.

If anything I'd promote taking a day off. It's weird but sometimes the brief break can actually help. At least that I've noticed... maybe it's just me, but it seems like when you go back a day or two later freshened up it seems more relaxed and previous things seem easier.
