gibson sg identify!

Can anyone help me identify (model/year) this guitar. And does it look all original? www.subnormal.dk/sg.jpg

do u have a serial number for that guitar?
I can tell you that it looks like a 1961 Les Paul Sg custom. The pick guard and the inlays back this up...but the trem doesnt as far as I know.
I think the guitar looks original, except for the truss rod cover.(and maybe the trem)


Have a look to make sure that the headstock hasnt been cracked in the past...or replaced, because usually there is a large dimond shaped inlay on custom Gibsons.(maybe this one has one as well, I cant see properly...Looks like a nice guitar. The inlays suggest that it is a custom...but check it out!

Right...from that I can tell you only that it is a rather old model...because at some point...prior to 1984...I think it was mid-late 70's, they changed their serial number sysytm to have it so that the 1st and 5th number showed the year, the 2nd,3rd and 4th showed the day of the year and the last three numbers told you what number guitar that was for that day.

ie, my Les Paul starts... 00213 so that means it was built on the 21st day of 2003...if you follow me...just look around to see if you can find out when Gibson changed to that serial number method.
