Anyone who is into shred with serious neo-classical theory should this guy out. He is unbelievable. What's more the guy actually jams a lot of the tracks on his albums, simply recording improvisation. LIsten to his improv pieces and you will agree that he is a true virtuoso in a sense that even Vai could never match.
I suppose it helps that he is the head rock instructor at the Berklee College of Music!
What are some of his good songs? I listened to one and all I got was some REALLY cheesy vocals

I listened to "Weapon of Choice" and wasn't overly impressed. I don't find him any different to Yngwie.
IMHO, Vai kicks him to the moon and back in terms of virtuosity

I agree with Superhuman, He is absolutely better than Vai in terms of technical ability and speed, but Vai is much more excellent in songwritting and overall guitar awareness.
Here are some awesome songs by Joe Stump:
The killers Instinct
Demon's Eye
The dominance factor
And here are some of his great albums:
Survival of the fastest
Guitar Dominance
--- A little self explanatory album titles and a little cocky though..!!! Enjoy
