Hi everyone,
I'm new so please forgive what might be a really stupid question.
I've recently taken up 'trying' to play guitar again after about a 20 year absence...so effectively I'm not too far off a complete beginner again!
Anyway, I recently bought an Epiphone '56 Gold Top and over the past few weeks of playing I've realised I was having real trouble with getting the guitar in tune. So today I purchased an electronic tuner (Korg CA-30). This has confirmed what I thought was a problem ie. If I get the open strings perfectly in tune every note when played on the fretboard is slightly # :(
Any ideas why this is?
I bought the guitar secondhand off Ebay but the guy had only had it for a month (was too heavy for him as he's disabled) and it certainly does look like brand new and came in a fitted hard-case with all the tags and stickers intact so I don't think it's a case of the guitar being knackered?
Is there some kind of fundamental 'set-up' problem?
BTW: Dr Simon (If you read this) I've been playing and working hard on all your lessons over the last 6 weeks now and I still can't play like Steve Vai...where am I going wrong?! JUST KIDDING! :D They're great tutorials
This will make you homesick...I was up in Newcastle upon Tyne last week (nice city)...If I can figure out how to do it I'll post a pic of me standing on Holy Island Causeway with the tide just coming over my feet!
Cheers for any help with the tuning issue.
