Which scale is called country scale?

hey
i read an article about soloing, it mentions the rock scale
which is the pentatonic and it also mentions the country scale which i dont know... do you know it?

Probably major pentatonic.

Mapping out the notes we have:

or the

I've never heard of any country scale, except in a harmonica method i read some time ago...

The most common scales that country players use would be the major and major pentatonics, but mixolydian, dorian and other modes are used as well. check out Lee Hodgsons "Hot Country" book for some tips on which scales to use to build country licks and solos.

A quickie method I picked up for country was your basic pentatonic, but different positioning. Like if a song was in key of "A", you would play the F# blues position.

Dunno, might not be 'proper', but it did in a pinch when we played "Folsom Prison" in between AC/DC and Nazareth.
