Apparently there is this guitar program that is called fret2fret created by mike slaiter and its supposed to make you memorize the fretboard in 60 minutes or less it is 30$ and there is a 30 day money back guarantee is this a load of crap or does it really work?

There is a 30 day money back garauntee...becuase its probably a 60 minute workout... and it will take 30 days for you to notice the difference. I wouldn't pay money for it. I could say that I can make you play faster than Yngwie in 60 minutes and give you your money back if it doesn't work in 30 days... but if 10 people pay me 30 dollars... that's 300 bucks... then it doesn't work for 5 of them... I still made 150 dollars with a bunch of BS. haha........ hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ???

How many of these can you actually trust? This seems to be a bit over the top, with guaranteeing learning in merely one hour. But there are a lot of them promising speed building and scale knowledge and stuff. Can you actually trust their refund guarantee?

There's only one way to memorize the fretboard and that's tons and tons, and years of practice.
You can simplifiy things to a certain extent by learning 3 note per string scales and rock scales in the most used keys for guitarists.
In other words... most guitar players tend to deviate to playing tunes in A and E. Mainly cause they're the easiest tunes to to use open strings on.

If you learn all your scales in A and E and get used to finding your way around the fretboard in those keys, you've won half the battle.
Anytime you hear a song being played in E, you know automatically that all you have to do is go up the the 12th fret to play a rock scale and it'll fit.
You can play an open E to give it some bass, you can play E chords with the E and 1st and 2nd strings open almost all the way down the fretboard....
You can hit strings 1 and 2 on the 12th fret and get a harmonic....

Once you get used to doing those keys, you can gradually move around to other notes like G. Where you can play the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, notes at the 12th 7th and 5th fret to get harmonics....

Try learning these scales first and just move them up a couple of frets at a time until you get used to changing them around.

It's bull, never pay for any programs that "promise" to "improve" your playing in "xxx" amount of time. The only resource I would pay for would be books.

It's simple.

A D G C F A# D# G# C# F# B E

This pattern repeats endlessly.

Start at 5th fret 6th string. It is an A
next string 5th fret is aD
next string 5th fret is a G
next string5th fret is a C
For the next string, to compensate for the standard tuning, move up one fret
so you have
next string 6th fret is an F ( of course you know that the 1st string is the same as the 6th.)
Now stay at the 6th fret, and go back to the 6th string;

6th fret 6th strihg is A#
next string 6th fret is D#
next string 6th fret is G#
next string 6th fret is C#
next string(you guessed it, move up one fret) 7th fret is an F#
go back to the 6th string at the 7th fret, you have B
next string 7th fret is E

Next string 7th fret= start the pattern over.

A D G C F A# D# G# C#F# B E

The guy is selling a gimick to make it easy to remember. I won't say what it is
for the sake of saving myself a lawsuit.

Man, that's kinda sad ain't it.
It's so quiet around here I could leave the front door open and my car unlocked all night and nothing would happen.

I hate the neighbourhood I live in. I even get ridiculed by gangs of youths as I walk down the street, just because I have long hair.

In my town there's this stupid "happy slapping" thing going on. Basically it's where some people beat you up whilst filming it on their mobile camera phones, and then send it to their friends. I don't get the mentality of some of the a**holes who think it's fun to do stuff like that, and why the hell it iscalled "happy slapping".

A friend of mine almost became a victim of it, but fortunatly he's one belt away from black in Taikwondo; a spinning kick to the face knocked one of them clean off their feet and the rest ran off.

A few weeks ago, in the news paper there was a story about how an 8 year old kid had a brick thrown at his face by a 16 year old. And another of how 11 teenage girls beat a 12 year old almost to death.

I hate 99.8% of the people who live in my town.

That type of crap is going on in Dublin at the moment too. Just do what I did, take martial arts lessons. The only way to stop this from happening to you is to be able to face the music head on. I've been training for over 15 years now and I've had to kick a few arses along the way, it always turned out well for me and very bad for the other guy(s). Used to have long hair for years but that never caused any trouble. Once people know that you can handle yourself they will steer clear. It's no fun for them if they think they will come out of an encounter with broken bones. My advice, start training ASAP.

I've seen this fret2fret crap.... and to an extent it IS true. All the guy is doing is selling a memory technique so you can remember which notes follow which across the strings. As I believe has already been discussed (and is in the wiki link), the order vertically is A,D,G,C,F,A#,D#,G#,C#,F#,B,E,A and around again. The usefulness of this information is debatable.

I guess he can offer a money back guarantee, as it delivers what it says. I'm not sure about memorizing the whole neck in 60 minutes, but it is a decent technique he is using. What he doesn't say is that knowing where all the notes are doesn't of itself make you a guitarist/musician/whatever.

From what the guy says, if a coconut bought fret2fret, he'd be a virtuoso by the end of the day.... :rolleyes: As we all know, there are no shortcuts....

I managed to get it for free off another forum and its shocking ****! All it teaches you is to associate notes with names such as b=bb king d=danny devito
f= fidel castro etc. Its ****ing bull**** and they're charge you $30 for the crap.
I thought what happens when you get a diminished cord or sumthing, you would end up with like fidel castro diminished lol :D
