I have a used Harmony electric guitar, I am told they don't make any anymore. It seems like a somewhat lower quality guitar than my friends, they have Squire Strats, I was wondering if it would be worth it to buy one of them. I don't much money but I'm saving up. I live in a small town and the nearest city is small and has limited options, so its hard to find a good guitar without paying an arm and a leg. Also, I have a little 15 watt Squire amp but I'm saving to buy a new one. It is a big Peavey, I believe a 200 watt, it sounds great with great distortion but is quite a bit more than a Fender amp a lot like it but without the great distortion, I love the distorted sound but play a lot of country music. Would it be worth the extra money to buy the Peavey, then I will try to buy a new guitar, after i see how it sounds on a new amp? Thanks

For the amp, I would suggest either a Peavey Classic 30 1x12 or a Classic 50 2x12. Either one will be loud enough for any gig you might play. I have the Classic 50, and love it to bits. It's a very versatile amp with great Fender to Voxish type cleans, and distortion that's great for everything from country to hard rock.

Thanks for the reply. I have found a special edition black and chrome squire strat for $200, it looks awesome and has great ratings, (its on musiciansfriend.com) i believe it is a step up from a regular strat and you cant argue with the price. Does anyone know if it will be worth the money and make as a nice versatile guitar?

Wow that was a long time ago. I am still using the same old guitar for now, it seems to suit me fine for the time being if anyone was wondering.

dude, upgarding to a Squire strat is a waste of money...if you want something better than your current guitar...then get something BETTER than your current guitar...a A Squire will be outgrown pretty soon methinks.
