*I use 3 Marshall Valve-state (100W) heads....One to switch the other two from clean to distortion and take advantage of the (now connected) 3 tube pre-amps......I use the sends/returns of the two driver amps through a rack that consistes of: Roctron Ganiac, DBX 266 Compressor/limiter, Lexicon mpx-100 effects (VERY Clean), Stereo EQ and DTR tuner......The rack is configured to provide true stereo for the effects and EQ...I use custom built speaker cabs (4) that each have (2) Emminence 12" speakers.....These cabs are wired in series (each 16 ohms), so that each head sees a total of 8 ohms (2 cabs, each head, in parallel)...(They don't have to sweat much..).......I use Custom modified Fender Strats from the standard to the Mex stuff to a bitchin' custom squire that pleases every time.....Stick a Hendrix Wah in there and jam it through a Nady wireless and you're rockin' like the V :D

Hi, Scott. I'm new here, but I thought I'd answer your question.
I am currently using a Peavey Classic 50 head and either a Marshall
Stereo 2x12 cab or a Marshall 4x12, depending on the venue. I
am currently playing Fender Strats, either an '89 Japanese model or
a '95 Buddy Guy signature model. I use a Danelectro Daddy-o
overdrive, and a Boss chorus pedal. Acoustic is an Olympia 6-string
with onboard preamp.

I have a Laney Vh100R all tube British head. I run it into two Randal cabs w/ Celestion speaks. The only effect I use is a Boss Enhanser pedal through the effects loop.
When I first got the amp I didn't like it. A friend of mine showed me how to set it up correctly and now I am in love with it. I can get death metal tones, The exact Ac/Dc sound, Zeps sound, and a really good acoustic tone.
I have a Sure True Diversity wireless.
I have a Kv3 Jackson (My Baby)
I have a Gibson The Paul '78 (nice for playin the blues)
I picked up an Arts and Lutherie Acoustic. I really like the sound of it. Nice Canadian Guitar.
I used to play B.C. Rich but realized that they don't have a very good tone, or feel. (I just liked the shape I had two Biches)

This question gets asked every few months. If you're just curious, check out the thread shown above.
Most of us enjoy the chance to 'show our stuff'. I've got pile of receipts 'this deep' from all the amps and guitars that have come and gone over the last 33 years, but here's what I have at the moment:
Peavey Rock Master tube pre-amp
Ampeg VT-22 2x12 combo (tubes)
Gallian-Kreuger Backline 100 1x12 combo(transistors)
Garnet 4x10 cabs (2 of 'em)
Daijon 12-string acoustic w/Shadow bridge p/u
Washburn EA20MTS 6-string electric/acoustic
Washburn A-20 (weird-looking beast)
Yamaha SBG-1000 (double cutaway Les Paul copy)
Plus the usual assortment of stompboxes 'n such, and a Samson wireless that I don't use very often, 'cause I get tangled up by the delay it causes.

Hi Scott,
My equipment is minimal, compact and versatile:
Godin LGX-SA > Roland VG-8EX > signal direct to mixing board. I use a Yorkville keyboard amp to monitor my own sound. That's pretty much it other than a few other peices of gear not worth mentioning.

Hi Gannong,
I was just wondering if you noticed any effect on your tone through the board. When an instrument is plugged direct through the board, you normally get a little phase/delay effect.
If you want to keep the integrity of your sound genuine, may I suggest you plug direct to your amp and mic it. This requires a pretty good microphone. Use a regular wired mic, not a wireless. Wireless will still give you some degree of delay (also applies to wireless instrument systems). ;)
Also, use an effects loop to truly bypass the effects when they are not being used. I have found that when effects are daisy chained, the sound you get when all the effects are turned off is still somewhat affected. Thus you lose the "real" tone of your instrument to a small degree.
I am a a big proponent of tone purity and my quest is never ending, dude!
There is an excellent article on Jerry Garcia's Tiger guitar setup in Guitar Player magazine's April 2001 issue. It is in the toolbox section on page 23. A must read for tone connosieurs.:D

Hi Mr. PlayLikeDavid,
I like the name. I'm a born-again Christian too. I play regular praise and worship services in a very lively charismatic church. Just thought I'd mention that.
Anyhow, regarding your question, I don't notice any phase/delay when going direct to the mains. One of the strong points of the vg8 is how good it sounds through a PA system. Hence the use of a keyboard amp for monitor. The VG8 signal is best served with the high fidelity reproduction of a full frequency range amp as opposed to a guitar amp which is intended to add it's own color to the sound. And fx loops don't apply here. The vg8 box does it all. You pick the virtual guitar, amp, speaker configuration etc, add whatever fx you want, and out comes the signal. Kind of like a keyboard, no fancy amps needed. Just faithful reproduction of the signal that's already been created. It's compact and versatile. It serves me well in a praise & worship setting that involves many styles of music. You probably know what I'm talking about.
Interesting point you raise re: phasing/delay when going direct. We'll do some experiments to see if we can detect it.

Gannnong,
It's good to hear from another Christian brother/sister. Maybe what I should have said was that the effect on the sound could be unique to our sound system. Fact is we don't have a real experienced sound person which is a detriment. The fellow we have doing sound tries real hard and is getting the drift, but nothing suffices for real world experience. Perhaps our physical system setup is off somewhere, but the effect I mentioned earlier is what we get through our board. I started off plugging directly in to the low impedance 3 prong inputs on the main platform which ran right into a 32 channel mixing board. Now we mic the guitars and our tone has dramatically improved. :D
I have heard the same comment about the effecting on sound input direct to boards from other experienced
"soundpeople". Hence, I took it to the bank.
If you don't mind saying, which denomination do you attend? I go to an Assembly of God and our praise/worship is awesome. I also write an occasional music ministry email that I would be glad to send to you if you like. It is all centered around Christ and his commission to musicians. :)
You can email me from the mail icon at the bottom of any of my posts. :)

Mr. PLD,
We're a non-denominatinal church affiliatied with Minister's Fellowship International (www.mfi-online.org). Our church website is http://www.living-hope.org but it is still under construction. Our worship is very good as well and it's a joy to play regularly in those services. God has been good to me. I would be interested in the articles you produce. My email is gagnon_@yahoo.com. Thanks and God bless...

Power Rangers were teh pwn. But only the first series, because then it kept changing to all these different variations of power rangers just to make it seem "new", and "exciting".

I'm just starting but I think I have pretty nice stuff:
Guitars:
-Dean VX-T Flying V 6 string w/ floyd rose
-Shecter Omen 7, seven string guitar w/ fixed bridge
-Washburn N1 (as a practice guitar).
Effects and pedals
-Line 6 POD xt Live (with factory effects, but I want the metal amps model pack)
Amps
Ehhhh... well....it's just... OK I have a crapy small amp
- Laney HCM15R 15 Watt Combo wth Reverb
And that's it.

My rig is simple,
I have a 1997 USA Fender Fat Strat Texas Special (main guitar)
1982 Gibson Flying V (The V) as it says on the headstock.
199? Jackson Performer with DiMarzzio pups
1995 Alvarez Acoustic Artist model.
My main amp is a 1999 Marshall JCM 2000 DSL running into a 4x12 cab loaded with celestions. I dont use any effects other than my wah pedals. I run the signal into my boss volume pedal then into my dunlop crybaby, last I go into a morley bad horsie wah. I use two wahs because they sound so diffent.
I also have a digitech GNX 4 for practicing. Last I have a Crate 2x12 combo amp that I practice on as well.

52 Reissue American Series Tele, EB Slinky's, and playing through a "Kustom Coupe-36" amp, and 1 stomp box, the best I have ever used... Clapton's "Crossroads" pedal.
I also beefed and sharpened the amp sound with all new Tubes, by Eurotubes.com I have a really nice Albert Collins sound with this gear, but can also switch to a nasty-ass "Cream" sound in a flash.

Nice set up. I have been trying to get the money together for a tube amp. Still playing on a modeling amp and have been told many times by the fine folks here that tube is the way to go.

I like these threads;-) been a while since I posted my gear list. I've been playing for about 15 years, got most of my gear before I ended up with a load of babies. Built my own recording studio in the attic over last summer, my oasis of shred and home to years of horded gear.
Here's a link to pics of my studio:
http://picasaweb.google.com/celticninja/StudioPics?authkey=Obl8AMV3jL8#5263842022121058226
Here’s the list of gear:

Loads of other software and VST instruments –too many to list here

The only gear I plan on getting in the future is the odd axe... I've had my eyes on a 36 fret 8 string LGM Leviathon for quite some time now... waiting for a windfall of spare cash whenever the global economy turns around...
