Yes... power chords can be fun, but I do not see how they present any sort of talent. In my opinion (once again just to clarify) I think they are one of the most over rated pieces of fuzz out there.
But ha you've come to see what half of guitar tricks (the forum) is all about in like your second post. Seeing and stating different opinions (if you are into that sort of thing, I'm not... I generally tend to avoid these situations... if you caught my on a good day i probably just would have skipped the whole Nirvana sucks thing (I just would have thought it)...
bam lack of sentence structure and everything else holy in english!

i personally think Nirvana was awesome.
Bleach and In Utero are my favorites (i didn't like Nevermind quite so much).
technically brilliant? no. but talent has as much to do with technical brilliance as it does with the ability to write a good song if not more.

and welcome to the board by the way.
Welcome Janie! Play whatever you want to play the way you want to play it.
Why people want to turn Rock and Roll into a competition sport never ceaces to amaze me. I wish that they would; as Zappa said; "shut up and play your guitar".

I'm more into The Gits and Alice in Chains, but Nirvana had some good stuff.
But you have to bear in mind that they were about songs and not chops.

Welcome to the site! Hope you enjoy yourself, and don't be a stranger!
p.s. As a guitarist, I kind of see Nirvana as one of those "guilty pleasure's" band's. I don't listen to them for their chops, I just enjoy good song writing.
