How does Lifeson get the squeal sound halfway between a harmonic and a simple picked bend during a lead?

*He does it by using HEAVY Chorus/Flange and (of course) new strings......

You do it by pinching the note as you pick it or just rubbing your thumb lightly on the string at the same time.
I'm pretty sure I uploaded something explaining this...just do a search for "pinch"... it's probably still there
