Please excuse the thread title!

I was just wondering if Digitech RP80/200's work well through PC soundcards AND through amps.
And I was wondering the same thing about Line 6 Pods.
Are there any other (inexpensive) gadgets that would also serve this purpose?

Thanks!!

Look for a second hand Pod V2 on eBay. I have had them side by side with the Digitechs and although the Digitechs have nicer / more accessible effects the Pods have nicer amp tone.

They are can also be used for both direct recording and to run an amp.

Thanks man, its just that I've never heard of anyone using a Pod through an amp.

Also, would a Behringer V-Amp work well through both soundcards and amps?

I think a pod would be a little out of my price range, so what would you recommend out of...

-Digitech RP80

-Behringer V-Amp

Dude, you can pick up a second hand V2 pod for about 100 bucks.

Why not have a look at eBay and see who will ship to Australia ?

Another thing is that the Pod has headphone sockets. If you are wood-shedding in your bedroom headphones work just as well as an amp with the added advantage that you don't annoy neighbors, wives, partners, mother etc etc.

Consequently you can leave the big old amp for later when you are gigging.

Someone told me that the Digitech RP's are crap for playing/recording into your computer's soundcard. Is this true?

True except the RPx400...it comes with software for recording through USB n stuff. Not sure if it sound good, but i'm sure it dosn't sound like crap.

Well I guess I'll be saving up for a Pod then.

So I would also be able to get a good sound out of a Pod when playing it into an amp right?

Is there much of a difference between the POD 2.0 and the POD XT ?

Is there much of a difference between the POD 2.0 and the POD XT ?

Yes.The 2.0 needs physical upgrades while the XT uses your computers USB to download updates. The XT also lets you tweak setting through GUI software(general user interface).

Some swear by the POD 2.0 and some by the XT...I only have one so I wouldn't know if the 2.0 sounds significantly better than the XT.

Once again, try out both if possible.
