View Full Version : Lost gain with wireless

hello m8s.I have a nady XR-61 wireless system.Havent used it for a lot of time and when i got to use it again, i noticed that the tone of my guitar isnt the same as b4.It s like i lose some gain...like the tone of my guitar is dead.Especially when i use distortion.I ve changed the batteries in the transmiter but it s still the same.Could u plz help me out and tell me why this is happening and possible solutions?

Do you have the same problem when you use a regular cable between your guitar and amp ?

no.The sound is normal when i connect my guitar to the amp via a cable.That s how i ve noticed the difference.I lose gain with the wireless system.

do you loose gain or volume, or is there a lose in treble that makes it sound like a lose in gain? Does it have kind of a muffled sound as compaired to plugging straight into the amp with a cable?

Hmz to be honest i dont exactly what i lose.I think i lose some gain.All i know is that the sound that s coming to my hears is weaker and muffled (as i u said) in comparison to the sound that s coming when a cabel is connected.The settings of my amp are they same when i plug in the wireless system.I just dont what s wrong.The sound with the cable is so warm, "full" and strong and when i connect the wireless then the soumd is weaker...muffled.Like something blocks a part of the sound from my guitar coming to my amp.

This is a long shot but you don't have a microwave oven or a cordless telephone or similar with in about 30 Feet of the receiver ?

First thing's first, check your wireless receiver and transmitter for a volume or gain control; if you find one turn it up a bit and see what happens.


Second, ALL wireless systems alter your tone compared to a regular cable. You may have to shop around for a better system or you may end up doing away with it entirely.

That s what i ve heard too.Anywayz thnx for the help m8s.And Raskolnikov how can Slash for example or Dime sound that good with wireless systems?Especially Dime...My wireless system is a pro one..:(

They probably EQ their amp differently when they're using their wireless rigs.

I think he means that those artist make up for what the wireless does to their sound by adjusting their settings.

Ex: If your wireless systems lowers your high end, you should boost your high end in your EQ so it comes out at the level you desire.
