Hi guys and girls,
Just though I'd post something on here as I am a complete beginner to this whole guitar world. Just bought my first guitar and fender squire bullet, amp and other bits and bobs for 140 quid.. bargain eh!!!
I suppose I came on here for a reason, I have learnt a few of the basic chords and a couple of power chords but should I be learning stuff like scales? If so can you point me in the right direction of a free website that has lessons on it? Also can anyone think of any easy blues riffs for me to learn?
Thanks for your help!!!!
Matt

Well at the whopping cost of two pound fifty a month there are about 2 and a half thousand lessons here at GT, some (including 40+ of mine) have video.

I'm no guru, so don't listen to me. But I learned chords, chords and more chords. Know what notes are in the chords. Learn songs to play the chords. When it gets easy, learn more!

So for 140 "Quid" I get some bits and bobs, some poo, and some chocolate. That definately sounds like a bargan to me, if 140 quid is less that $25 american and by bargan you mean so cheap it must have been bought on the black market.

mattoakes, you would also benefit from picking up some theory. It will help make it all make sense. And if you see someone wearing an eye patch and holding a Baby Ruth, RUN MAN, RUN!

Man, look at you all having fun stealing candy bars and poo. I want some candy bars and poo. I bet it'd be cool to be a candy pirate. Or even bits and bobs. Hell, bits of Bob would be pretty cool to. Or even Bob's bits.

Have you seen the Pirate Movie? It's kind of a cheesy 80's remake of Pirates of Penzance. It's pretty funny. Modernized a little (in the 80's). Pretty cheesy though.

you could start by learning the twelve bar blues riff, its quite easy and classic rock started basing that and i think the dorian scales into there structure. The twelve bar blues is very simple, if u can play a power chord u can easiley learn this. sure maybe go even higher than clapton
