Get an electronic tuner..it should cost from 10 - 50 bucks give or take a few..Until you know what the E string should sound like..than you'll start tuning on your own..
Hard to explain it but if you can get the E string in normal tuning then you can tune the rest of your guitar from the 5th fret..theres lots of sites out there..i started with an electronic tuner tho..I was playing out of tune for about a year so dont feel bad ;)

yo kid, go hear and download this guitar tuner, it'll tell you if you're in tune by using your mic or if you plug your guitar into the soundcard http://www.audio-phonics.com/download.html

I used to use a tuning fork at High E, but no matter how much I tried to tune the rest of the strings to that, my G string always sounded off.
I thought maybe something was wrong with the string itself, maybe those bridge adjustments were off, but I didn't want to mess with them.
So I finally spent the money on an electronic tuner, a QuikTune for about $15, and I don't have that problem any more.
