I started this thread for people to discuss the first string they ever broke. I was talking to my friend who just started not too long ago, the other day and he said he popped his first string. I remember when I broke mine, I was kinda proud, but it made me really mad too. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was trying to play Red House by Jimi Hendrix and my high E string popped. But all the same. Well, just thought you people could reminesce on some good times.

I think the first string I ever broke was when I was tuning to an open E to do some slide playing. The string just popped off.

My friend and I had a good laugh about that.

First string I ever broke was my low E. By about the third time I broke it I caught on that I was probably playing too hard. Of course now my playing is much softer than when I first started.

I think one of Vai's guitar playing tips was - "If you run out of inspiration and creativity, and don't know what to do next, break a string!"

Just make sure you have money to buy another set of strings.

hehe, good question. I just remembered the first time i broke a string. I had just started playing for maybe 3-4 months and needed new strings. So my dad bought me some and left them for me after school. WEll, i decided to put them on myself, and this being my first time, i turned the tuner too far and broke a string. Though i dont remember which one it was. heh..
