Hey guys, just wondering, what do you think are the best signal cables around? Or for that matter the best speaker cables too.

I use Pirahna cables at the moment, and was thinking of buying some new ones, so just wanted some input.

Thanks guys.

I use a lot of monster 100 and 500 cables. Not cheap but pretty good.

LATS is the man to ask about cables !!

LATS!!! I CALL UPON THEE!!! *thunder*I answer thee, oh incontinent one! Thy dearest wish be my merest suggestion...

For power less than 1000 Watts, and length less than 10 feet, you don't need anything more sophisticated than #16 AWG lamp cord. Use #14 if you're feeling extravagant. Speaker cables don't need shielding, and for cabinets with more than 2 Ohms (which is all of 'em) the losses through ordinary lamp cord (aka: twinlead) are insignificant.

Signal cables are a different story. Again, for less than 10 feet, just about any shielded cable will do, as long as the connectors are decent quality. At 20 and 30 feet, cable quality starts to become important, but again, as long as the connectors are good, most cables will also be OK.

Avoid anything that has the connectors moulded-on to the cable. Cheap junk cables have crappy connectors on them, and decent cables usually wear good quality connectors, so look at the ends of the cables you're considering, and then decide if the cable itself is suitable (durable, flexible, pretty colours  ) for your application. Tinned or plated copper wire is what you want, but it's actually hard to find shabby cable with good connectors on it. Cannon makes very good XLR connectors, and Switchcraft make very good 1/4" jacks, plugs and adaptors.

Ahh, thanks bud. Hmm, I may just stick with the cables I have at the moment; it would seem what I have already is decent enough!

Cheers.
