aside from stevie ray vaughan, does anyone know other bands or musicians that is similar in his style...

I find the blues very interesting.. I like the the blues-rock kind... no offense to any hard-core blues fan but right now, I don't dig the old school blues thing (probably later...), I really like the sound of bands like Cream and SRV so does anyone recommend any.

Instrumental Blues-Rock Bands too! If anyone has the software of Voyetra's Teach Me Blues Guitar, that's the style of instrumental blues I'm reffering to

here's Voyetra's link:

download the "TM Blues Guitar Video Tutorial" on the bottom of the page

thanks!

Try some Johnny Winter.

Yeah, that is exactly what i wanted to type when i read the first post.
You can also try Kenny Wayne Shepherd (sounds a bit like SRV's copycat ,yet not bad at all), Derek and the dominos for some more Eric Clapton and hmm cant think of anything else now..

I'm reffering to the twelve bar electric blues kind of style... But yeah, blues-based rock like the one you mentioned is ok too.

Check out Roy Buchanan. I don't like his tone (too shrill for my ears), but the man was an incredibly talented player and writer.

When you're ready for something more traditional, start out with 'The Three Kings' - Freddy King, Albert King, and BB King.

How about Gary Moore -- He Still Got The Blues (For You).
Also the Rolling Stones -- they Got The Blues! :)

The guitarist from Los Lonely Boys has a great sound somewhere between SRV and Carlos Santana according to my ears.

I really like the mostly clean tones and aggressive attack found in stuff like Little Wing

For blues playin I like Robben ford alot, I almost like him better than SRV.... because SRV gets a little repetetive in some of his songs. And also gary moore like that other guy mentioned.

Eric Johnson, Los Lonely Boys are two texas slingers in bluesy rock.
