If those are the only chords in the whole song then it can be considered the key of G...the only other possiblity is the Key of C. If there's an F chord then it'll be C, if there's a D chord it'll be G...

Here's another one. What key would the progression Em Gm Am A#m be? I'm trying to find a good scale to use to solo over it. E minor sounds reasonable but Em doesn't have the sharp A in it.

Well the whole thing isn't in any given key. Having Am and Gm would suggest that the key signature would be that of F major, except that theres a B in the Em chord, where in F major the B should be flatted. The A#m throws everything off. Instead of trying to solo over it with any one scale, treat each chord seperately, if you base your solo around the arpeggios of each chord, using scale notes as passing tones, it'll be fine. What i'm curious about it does that chord progression sound any good? Seems unlikely.

if you want to post tab in the forum, put it in Vb code brackets:

['code']

'tab here'

['\code']

I put quotes in brackets ['code'] above so you could see the brackets. Without the quotes, it does this:

G Em C
E--3--------3----------------------------------
B--3-----3-----3----0--------0------------1--------
G------0------------0------0----0---------0-------
D----0-----------0--2----2----------------2------
A-------------------2--2-----------2------3------
E--3----------------0---------------------0-----

That's a rather nice progression, Josh. Where did you get that tab? Is it part of song, or something you came up with?
