View Full Version : String Height

I just started playing (accoustic) and having a hard time getting my left hand fingers from touching unintended strings and getting some buzzing. I was wondering if lowering the string height would help. Or, any other ideas for this problem?
Thanks.

I think more practice is probably the best way of curing this problem and it it is probably not what you want to hear!
Normally dropping the hight of the strings will make notes or chords easier to play because they require less force to hold them down.
In this instance don't think this is the issue, so adjusting the string hight may not solve anything. It may however cause a lot of additional problems so probably best to leave it alone.

Thanks Doc.
As my finger tips are started to harden up its becoming a little easier. I've been using many of the video's (yours included) to do some string bending, which has toughened them up.
I really take more interest in slow blues lead stuff than strumming chords. I really wish I could find an excercise to get my fingers to go wider. My 5th finger kind of curves in and I can't straddle but two frets between my index and pinky.
