hey, does anyone know how to use delay to create the constant output of notes type thing in songs like buckethead's "big sur moon" or on a song by he is legend www.purevolume.com/heislegend (http://www.purevolume.com/heislegend) the song is "either they decorated for christmas......"
i know its a matter of setting the delay repeats and matching that to what you play, but i'm struggling. Any help would be great!
First the effect level should be equal or nearly equal in volume to the direct signal , and the number of delay repititions shouldn't be much (just the main one which is equal in volume to the direct , and the others fade out quickly).
Setting the delay time is most of the trick , it depends on the song .... A helpful tip is to set it a bit longer than you expect , try the song with slower speeds till you get the effect right , then set it for lower time and speed up gradually up to the right speed.
BTW , what delay pedal do you use ?

The Boss DD-3 is a great Delay Pedal, and not too expensive considering the prices of other delay pedals of the same quality.
Check out some user reviews here. (http://www.harmony-central.com/Effects/Data/Boss/DD_3_Digital_Delay-01.html) :)

its cheaper than the line6 one and seems to be gettin decent reviews, i only thought about the line6 one cos the guy in the shop said it was amazing....possible just to entice me into spending another 100 odd squids
