Hey Xava, welcome to the forum!

A good place to start is to learn some chords, or better still get a beginners book, or even better still find a teacher. I think having a teacher is very important for sound musical development.

thanks buddy your so right.

teachers are awsome.
it took me 3 years to get good at geetar by teaching myself.
it will be so much better in the long run to get a teacher.

Learn all sorts of chord formations, it will help you alot later on, and if you want to become faster as picking and fingering start with very simple chromatic drills(starting very slow then picking up the pace), and last thing learn your blues scales inside out.

Where to start?

Who do you like to listen to? Is there a band or an artist that makes you go "WOW"?

When you start out, a bit of motivation is a very good thing. And having a hero(ine) to aspire to is a big motivator. Listen to the music around you. Pick out stuff that sounds good to you, and then sweat over your guitar until you can play it better than the original!

Edit: That's no joke - everyone can improve over time, and even current releases were probably recorded more thatn a year ago.
