i been watching the G3 live in denver dvd, and i keep watching the same bit in Steve Vai's show over and over. it happens in the song 'Juice' jus before the bass solo. Vai does this strange tapping thing where he taps the neck behind his fretting hand, in a really fast motion. i have no idea what he does, and wanted to know if anyone here did. if i haven't explained it to well, let me know.

I LOVE when he does that! He's tapping behind the fretted note and I think letting the note behind it ring out...I'm not sure how he gets that to pick up though...

i was planning to go to Joe Satriani's concert here in melbourne, but then I notice it says "Brisbane and Melboune gigs are held at licensed venues and you must be over 18 to attend" ARRRRRRRRRRRRGH
They just happen to be the 2 cities that I have access to!!!

Do you look 18?
not really, but i'm taller than my dad so it might not be a problem unless they ask for ID...

Could always try it anyway. Would be a bit of a bummer if they asked for I.D. though.

Haven't seen it, but maybe he is pulling the string while fretting the note, making something like a small bend. I would have to see it to know for sure.

the first song in his set is so cool, except for the singing of course
I really wish that Satch/Vai wouldn't feel the need to sing...
