I just moved here to Memphis, Tennessee this past Friday. This is one Elvis crazy place. I guess because he lived here, and gracelands here and all that.

well, you know, i live on Venice Beach in good old California... I have everything available to me, but, i'm anti-technology; i'm very pro-return to the old ways of doing things.
In actuality, the Master Ponyone useth chesels to carve everything into a board in ornate Victorian writing and script after which it is lathered in fine ink from the land of India and stamped on a section of Papyrus. Then, o'er it goes to His technologically-savvy house-boy from the Dark Continent, Jamal Al-Wahidi, who proceeds to translate it into a formatting more conducive to the minds of the average modern computer-user.
There's a load of really good music over in the UK though. I thought the club scene here in LA would be more interesting, but, after awhile you get sick of hearing these guys talk about how "hard" they are and that their main influences are Tool, Soundgarden and AIC, then you go to hear them and they sound like Candlebox or Dave Matthews through a really expensive Mesa. I've jammed with a couple bands that went this way; I just start using off-timing and throwing in some interesting chords and they rapidly lose interest, saving me from saying "you know what, you guys raped me of an hour of my time. do the world a favor and in your next ad put your influences as Jars of Clay and Sister Hazel. good day."

Elvis is number 1 for a record 1000th time  but the english music charts suck. if u remix a remix of a remix, then your number 1. oh, and if you play 3 chords and jump with your guitar then you are number 1 as well. very depressing :(

Well.... even if Elvis really was alive, we would be like 70 or something, and with his addiction to deep fried peanut butter and bananna sandwiches, I doubt his heart condition would have outlasted his drug addiction...
But I wish my music was popular enough to pay the bills 30 years or so after I died..... that's gotta say something huh?

here is one fine example of just how bad the singles chart is here in ol uk. there was a song called "F*** you" very pleasent as i sure you can imagine, any way it was about some guys girlfriend, and it got to no.1. however the following week there was a new song in at no.1 called "F*** you right back" (or somethin) any way this song was identical in every way, literally, except the supposed ex-girlfriend of this guy was singin the lyrics. and sad acts a.k.a chavs a.ka. scallies bought this crap!!! despite it being identical. no imagination what so ever! p.s i only heard about this one by chance i do not watch or listen to the chart ever as it is deppressingly unoriginal and uninspired.

That is a sad state of afairs indeed. I thought the industry sucked hear in the U.S.A. because all the bands are sounding the same. I now realize that we don't have it so bad; at least bands here are trying to be original.

i wouldn't say its all bad. alot more diversity on british radio i think, just look at what john peel did, he would play stuff you never would have heard anywhere else and played what he wanted and not what the record companies wanted. i know its horrible to say this to but tim westwood, again is an example, i know he's a wanna be gangster sad-act but he played his on thing to. you can get all this different music on just radio 1 whereas in US (when i was over and accordin to wot i read an heared from ppl livin there so may not be so accurate) you get just one style on each radio station. its not so hard to get exposed to new original music in UK, harder since john peel went but on the whole as long as you ignore the chart you can find some good stuff.
