www.wholenote.com This site is great also, covers from begginer to advanced player. Don't forget to look around this site aswell, do a search on the main page for what you want, or even in the forums.

One thing I believe is MUST for a beginner, is learning how to tune the guitar correctly. Get yourself a tuning fork or one of them guitar tuners you blow that sounds out the tone of each string. Then get an experience person check out the intonation on the guitar. If your guitar is outta whack tuning-wise, you'll get used to hearing things that way. Part of ear training; better to listen in tune from the start. Then do what others have suggested. I knew I guy that had the mechanics down for playing monster licks, but he had no idea he was out of tune cuz he couldn't hear that.

Learn to play major and minor chords first. Work on you strumming patterns. Then you can start working on your chord changes or how fast and smooth you can go from one chord to the next. Learn a scale or two. It all takes time, don't get in a hurry. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. Learn some open chords first, then learn how to switch between them. It's not terribly difficult. Something you could become quite proficient at after just a month of playing.

Get yourself a proper teacher, and you'll find that things will be better for you in the long run. Learning a few odds and ends from websites is OK, but it's better if you follow a bonifide lesson plan.

You have that on ctrl + c don't you doc. :pIt does make sense to point out stuff that's right here, instead of sending them somewhere else.

Get a teacher. Sorry, babe, but a teacher will be pretty damn helpful in these beginning stages.
