installing a floyd rose

I have an ibanez gio, it has a sentimental value, coz its my first guitar, I mean I won't sell it, and I want to make it better so Im thinking about changin its bridge and installing a floyd rose on it... is it worthy?¿?
can i do it with no risk of makin any damage to my guitar?¿? :cool:

It os probably cheaper and much less risky to buy a new axe.

i'm newbie and want to avoid situations like this - should so i bet on a crappy 2nd hand guitar for breaking it all (i really love experimenting, maybe more than Mattias Eklund or Andre LaFosse)?

what are the huge differences between a crappy 2nd hand guitar and a shining 'rolls-royce' guitar? (question for more sensible and experimented people)

Something to consider when contemplating making a modification is the balance of risk/benefit.

In this case, the risk is high, because it involves routing out a large cavity in the guitar body to install the FR trem system. Once all that has been done, there is no simple way to reverse the process. Doing this will probably cause some damage to the finish, so re-painting is also going to be part of the job. So, there's no easy way to undo the changes, if it turns out that you're not happy with the trem. You can try to asses the benefit by playing guitars that have the feature you're considering. In this case, that means trying out some FR-equipped guitars.

Less radical mods still involve the same decision-making analysis. Does the modification involve making changes that can't be undone? What other function are going to be affected by the modification? (Like installing a trem system will probably also require locking tuners or a locking nut). What benefit(s) can I expect to get from this mod? (Are those new pots and switches going to give you better control of your sound, or just confuse you with too many options?). Is there a simpler way to achieve the same thing? (If you want a brighter sound, you can try installing higher resistance Volume pots instead of replacing the pickups).
