I have heard that when musicians buy brand new tube amps, the first thing they do is crank them up and walk away for a few hours and let the tube burn in? Is there any truth to this, and what does it accomplish? I'd hate to break my new tube amp just after buying it. I just bought the new Marshall Valvestate series tube amp.

*When you buy a new amp it's best to bring the amp into a reputable place and have the tubes "balanced", which means have the bias (on the cathodes of each tube, I believe) adjusted.....After that, if you have to replace the tubes, use the same manufacturur and type of tubes and you shouldn't have any problems.......As for the valve-state, they use a tube only for the pre-amp and they NEVER have to be adjusted or biased, regardless of the manufacturer....Rock on, bro.....I got 6 of the valvestates myself and 2 rack units.......:)

Im glad thats true for valvestates. I'm in a foreign country for a few years anyway and I cant talk to the locals well enough to be able to get any special type of adjustments done in the first place. Let alone band oppurtunities and practice and such. Thanks for the help!

Those new AVT series Valvestates are really nice, I played on the 2x12 one at Sam Ash music in Coloumbus, OH. The tone is very thick, rich and full. Good amp choice.
