I AM one of those people, only I usually say things like: "Wait a minute...THAT'S no moon...IT'S A SPACE STATION!" or "THEY CAN OPEN DOORS!!!"

Name the movies and earn my temporary favor.

I'm like that at some movies, mainly ones that suck. Like The Ring... I talked through the whole thing, and started cracking up when the horse ran into the water. I thought it was funny. :o

anything wrong with society can be directly or indirectly traced back to greed.
most places of business now pay only one person to do what used to be the job of three or more people, without much more pay, if any.
how is that relevant?
they used to pay people to go around and kick people that could not contain themselves out of movie theaters. i haven't seen one of those guys in years.

I just love those kids who bring bags of popcorn and bottles of Coke and go << crackle crackle, pfffsssst, gulp gulp >> all through the movie...

I don't mean to seem snappy, but that's one of the most poorly tied together theories I've ever seen, and I used to watch the old Batman Television show, so I know poorly tied together theories.

I usually use the unexpected "SHHHUUUAAAAATT UUUUPPPPP!!!!!" at the first
offense, they usually stop talking after that.
I'm not a psycho, and I don't like to be rude, but as you said, often it takes
more than an "excuse me..." for them to be quiet, so I try to make it clear
that it's not accepted from the beginning.

If I had my way talking during the movie would be a capital offense.

I hate inconsiderate noisy bastards who are in my face, it is one of the fastest ways to piss me off !

If I can manage to keep a drum kit and a vast array of electronic noise making equipment from getting in their faces (or any one else's for that) the least they can do is keep whey outa mine !

I went to see Alien vs Predator, which was absolutely terrible, and i knew it would be but im just such a big fan of the first 3 alien/ 1st two predator movies I had to go see it

anyway there were these 4 kids in the theater who for the first 10 minutes would not shut up, and would not stop changing seats, and the entire theater was telling them to sit down and shut up but they refused

**** like this is why i stopped seeing movies years ago, and I hate kids so much its rediculous

and someones cell phone rang 5 times, count them 5 times, and this is not exageration 5 ****ing times

A friend of mine did something i've never seen before in a movie theater. These two kids were talking and talking and talking (and in the seats right in front of us as well), and we kept saying "Shut the **** up!", well we're about 30 minutes into the movie, and my friend just finished his jumbo-sized Dr. Pepper, and I offered to get his re-fill. He mentioned that he wasn't thisty, but I said that I was and I'd drink it. So I got the refill, and when i came back, these two kids were shouting at the screen. My friend grabbed the Dr. Pepper from my mouth, took the cap off, and dumped it on the kid that was shouting. This is a Jumbo-64 oz. beverage, and wow, those two kids ran out of the theater very fast.

This was at Anchorman in July. I haven't been back to that movie theater since.

i am usually quite annoyed by people talking during the movies. However, i have also been the culprit a number of times. I don't talk for the heck of talking but usually because someone asks me a question.

In the first 20 min of Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring, my friends kept asking me question (because i have read the books once a year since 1998), and it’s not like there was anything happening in the first 20 mins anyway, but we got told to "shhhh....." by the guy in front. Conversely, that’s really the only time in the cinemas.

i say in the cinemas because me and my friend get together for a DVD night, and we mute the sound and make our own words for the movie, and they usually have something to do with homosexuality, or a very heterosexually challenged. So i do talk through movies, but not usually in the cinemas.

wasn't taken as snappy, you had a point,i left it kind of vague, because i didn't want to go on and on. no matter what, there are going to always be people that are considerate, and there are always going to be people who are rude. but in the above described scenario, there used to be ushers at movie theaters to ask people to be quiet, and make them leave if they could not. so that problem used to be taken care of. now most theaters i go to do not have them.
i wasn't giving a theory. i was pointing out a minor symptom of a much greater problem.

Well i picked up some advice from seinfield, see first you give the person behind you the eye roll, and the raised eyebrow, and if they dont shut up just walk through their isle and knock over all their food. :)

You could add an ornamental "f&ck" to increase the effect, as in "SHHHUUAAAATT the F&&CKKKK UUUUPPPP". Try it... :D

It doesn't really matter what you say, as long as you scream it loud enough.
It's actually better to give off a spine-chiling "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!".
Then they will shut up, and your friends won't dare to drink out of your Coke.
Perfect.

When we went to go see the 6th sense, which wasn't necessarily the best movie ever, there was some yahoo on the other side of the theatre who was just laughing hysterically. The audience would all go "sssshhhhh!" at the same time and the laughing would get softer.... and then rise. and it had nothing to do with what was onscreen, it was like they were on the phone or something. They shut up for about 45 seconds and then just burst out laughing at full volume. so i was like "SHUT UP" as loud as I could shout it (which is fairly loud), and the audioence claps and whoops.... the laughing stops, and you hear a couple people get up and leave.

i read a story not long ago about a girl who was on a cellphone in a movie, and the usher asked her to leave, so her boyfriend started getting all manly... they went outside with the usher, and the girl was all up in his face (typical ghetto mall chick shenanigans) and the guy was saying stuff like "you disresepecting my girl?" and getting in his face... so, after he warned them to get back a few times... he just maced the two of them. i'd have payed to see that. if there's one thing that makes my blood boil it's when people are inconsiderate to others' ambience.

People talking at the theater are very annoying, but what stopped you from A) getting the manager, or who ever was in charge, to either make those people shut up, or make them leave?
B) getting up and getting your money back?

Why should I shut up? I think my questions/suggestions are sound. That's how I would handle the situation. Which, in my opinion, is a lot more mature than complaining about it on an online forum using derogatory terms, or telling someone on an online forum to "shut the **** up".

In no way was my post meant as criticism, so why react so defensively?

OK, I just saw parts of Twister on TV the other day, and one of the guys says the first line you quoted, but it seemed like it was a reference to another movie. Maybe Star Wars?

Seems like everytime I go to the movies I have to deal with kids like this or some smacktard with a laser pointer. The management is useless and I miss half the movie just wanting to jump the seats and kick in faces.

I'm 27 now and would most likely go to jail for beating them up, so I feel helpless. The funny thing is I don't remember the movies being this bad when I was growing up.

when we went to go see Bubba Ho-Tep (AWESOME flick!!), before they lowered the lights, there were some emo kids that came in. One of them had the white kid 'Fro going on, and it was funny... they sat down, and the people behind them kind of move their heads around, trying to see how well they'll be able to see the screen; so the guys get up and move to some more seats. The people behind them do the same thing, and they start to get up; the kids were like "sorry" and moved on again, and it happened two more times until they just took seats in the right front corner :D something about it was funny as hell.
