just got through doing some more business with Bob at Eurotubs. Got some new tubes for my Peavey Classic 50 2x12. I told him I wanted the clean to be a little fatter and the distortion/overdrive a little crisper/heaveir, and that's exactly what I got. I loved this amp before, but now, I'm obsessed with this amp (that can't be healthy). I also have it plugged into my marshall cab and it's just unbelievable! Absolutely no need for the triple XXX anymore. If anyone's interested in the XXX, I'll make you a good deal on it.

Thats cool. I'm surprised you prefer it to your triple XXX. I have heard that changing the tubes in an amp can make a huge difference to the tone though.

Don't let the name "Classic" 50 fool you. This is a mean little beast! I also just added an MXR ZW-44 overdrive pedal onto the amps distortion and  ! the Triple XXX had nothing on this baby. I mean sure, the XXX had all the gain anyone could ever want, but the tone just wasn't quite there. Running the 50 through the marshall cab helps the overall tone too. I'll try to throw up a recording or two sometime this week so you can hear what I'm talking about. I'll post again to let you know when i do

That would be cool to hear a clip of the classic 50 :) I have heard a lot about these amp but i have never heard one. I have heard they are great amps though.

I don't regret buying it one bit! There's only 2 things I don't really like about the amp...1) it weighs around 80 freaking pounds, and 2) the reverb sux and for some reason wont work anymore  , but besides that, it has been one of my best gear purchases. (Still working on the sound clips)

Hmm. Maybe you should get the reverb fixed. Cant you get a reverb pedal or something anyway ?
