50 Years old (nearly as old as Lordathestrings!!!) !... I'll have you know, sir, that I resemble that remark! ;)

I sometimes think of my blue & rosewood MIJ '62 RI - the one I took the tremolo out of, and locked the bridge onto a massive brass block that I pressed into the tremolo well. On the other hand, if I hadn't sold it, I would have been homeless.

And my clearest memory of that thing is the way the case always smelled like chocolate!

I made my choice back then - I still have my Brand X heavily modified 1984 Yamaha SBG1000 (I sold the Strat instead), and another one just like it, I bought a couple of years ago that I call The Stalker. It was The Stocker for about three months, until I reworked the electronics on it. If I had somehow kept, or re-acquired the Strat, I probably would have seriously modified it, too. These days, I'm contemplating one those Broad... er Telecaster axes - thoroughly customised, of course.

Ahhh.... Lotsa great memories... No regrets. :)

I hope my friend Andre is enjoying my strat, "Purdy."

Or as he and his band have redubbed it, "The Stratobastard."

Me and my Strat celebrated our 4th anniversary in April, and then I gave him
(yes, it's a he) a recond, so I don't now what to get him for his 50th birthday.
I was thinking about fixing a few very small marks on the back, but I don't know
if that would mess up the value of the guitar, it's a limited edition...?

If you were wondering (probably not) he's a Mathias Jabs Signature Fatstrat
which is 10% smaller than a default Strat. Smaller radius neck, locking tuners,
straplocks, JB and Seymor Duncan pickups, vintage synchronised tremolo and:
Candy apple red metallic (it is stunning!!).

God I love it. I would never consider to sell it. Ever.
A fire starts, I run for the strat. Nothing else.

So happy birthday to all of you Strats out there!

I still have 3, a USA made Japstrat (very red), a TexMex Calif series (sparkly red) and a Mex standard (cream).

I hadn't payed 'em for a while and recently thought about parting with the two I have in the US, right up until the time I re-strung 'em !!

Fantastic axes....and happy birthday right back at ya dude !

Come on, now. Everybody knows that Fenders' tone improves with dings.

I've noticed this but never got to asking you;how come the text in your posts always runs approximately 2/3 of the page as opposed to the whole page length? You can't be pressing enter that accurately all the time! Is it a setting on your comp. or something?
Just curious.

Why would you notice that?

Just curious. If a post was prepared in a text editor program like Notepad, the text will 'wrap around' so that all lines are less than 80 characters in length. There's no spellcheck function, but it does allow for leisurely editing before posting.

Not to worry, he has arrived to sort things up.
I do not use Notepad, nor is it a setting on my computer.
I simply press enter. I do this because I like my posts neat.
I've always felt that it's easier and more comfortable to read
posts that are somewhat narrowed down, like mine.
I try to edit my posts so it looks neat and correct. I never
start a sentence the way I started this one, I would never
use the full width of the post etc. I try to post here the same
way you would write an essay or letter or article.
If you look at the beginning letters of each line, a capitol I
is the beginning letter 5 times. 3 times in a row at the top.
I don't care for that either (oops that's 6!).

I'm not a control-freak like Jack Nicholson in "As good as it gets",
I'm just trying to keep it nice-looking (damnit thats 8!!)
like you were tought in school. So there you go.

Edit: This is also why I often edit my posts.

Other things I would never write:
L8R, LOL, ROTFL, anything with Z instead of S, luv, kewl,
dude, smileys , the F-word, sucks, word (as in word up),
+ any of the likes.

Since we are already off the subject, Lordathestrings;
I have some questions about Canada for you, you have PM!
