are u jsut dropping the 6th or all of them
If only the 6th then the 7fret 6 string should sound the same as open 5th string..thats drop D for the 6th string

Tune it as normal but on the E string fret it at the 2nd fret and tune it as normal, the tuner should say E and when youre done, BAM youre in drop-D

You can also change your tuner to where your tuning to double flat. A double flat is 1 step down, which is what your doing is tuning the E string down 1 step.....

A tuner I use(its from Boss and its a pedal). It will recognize the note on the string and it will tell you if you have tuned it to that note or if it is flat/sharp.

Also, you could just match the notes with the D string(4th string from bottom).
- Drop D is for n00bs anyways.

I find chromatic tuners to be the best. All you need to know are the notes for whatever tuning you are doing. Saves me a lot of trouble.
